Creating Judging Panels

What:

A judging panel is a group of individuals who are responsible for evaluating and critiquing ideas that are aligned with a campaign.

Why:

With the judging panel feature, you can involve experts from across your organization in the innovation process. Your organization's panel of experts can assess the desirability, feasibility, and viability of ideas to determine which ones are worth pursuing.

Your judging panel can also be used cross-functionally to gather feedback from stakeholders on ideas that are currently in your pipeline. With the help of your judging panel, you can facilitate a discussion on why a particular idea is strong, making it simpler to select and then prioritize ideas.

How:

You can set up a judging panel for the ideas within each campaign. Here’s how:

  1. Select 'Campaigns' from the left side menu.

  2. Choose the campaign you wish to add a judging panel to.

  3. Select 'Settings' from the menu bar.

  4. Click the 'Edit' (pencil) icon within the judging panel section.

  5. Search for the person you would like to add to the judging panel.

  6. Click the 'Add' icon to add to your list.

  7. Click 'Save'. Your judging panel will then be updated to display the names you have added to the list.

To delete individuals from the judging panel:

  1. Select 'Campaigns' from the left side menu.

  2. Choose the campaign containing the judging panel you wish to edit.

  3. Select 'Settings' from the menu bar.

  4. Click the 'Edit' (pencil) icon within the judging panel section.

  5. Under the current list, find the names you wish to delete.

  6. Click the 'Delete' icon to delete from your list.

  7. Click 'Save'. Your judging panel will then be updated to display the names you have deleted to the list.

Best Practices:

Choose the same panel of judges for a particular campaign. By using a consistent panel of experts to score ideas for a given objective, you can ensure familiarity and efficiency. Judges who become familiar with a objective and its associated ideas can make more informed and consistent decisions. This is also an efficient practice because judges will not need to learn new evaluation criteria for each objective. This reduces the amount of time and effort required for each evaluation.

When selecting a judging panel, choose individuals or experts who represent the major functions of your business (i.e. Marketing, Engineering, Product, Sales, etc.). This enables cross-functional evaluation of the ideas.

Notes:

Both Professionals and Contributors can be added to a judging panel.

If a judge is removed from the judging panel after scoring an idea, their score will still be recorded, but they will not be able to score any additional ideas going forward.

The scores that existed prior to that change will remain. The same applies even if the previous judges are not on the new judging panel.
