Assessing An Idea
What:
This article will guide you through the process of assessing an idea in Acclaim Ideas, detailing the steps and considerations you should take to accurately evaluate the viability and impact of an idea.
Why:
Idea assessment is crucial to determining which ideas align best with organizational goals and have the potential to bring about meaningful change. Accurate assessment ensures that time and resources are dedicated to ideas with the highest potential.
How:
-
Navigate to the Idea Section: Find and click on the 'Explore Ideas' link. This will show you all the ideas submitted by internal and external stakeholders.
-
Choose an Idea to Assess: Click on the idea that you want to assess. This will open a detailed view of the idea.
-
Review the Idea Details: Examine the idea's description, intended impact, and alignment with organizational goals.
-
Evaluate the Idea: Consider the idea's feasibility, relevance, originality, and potential impact.
-
Rate the Idea: Like ideas that you believe in. If you are a member of the judging panel, you participate in more detailed idea scoring.
-
Provide Feedback or Suggestions: If you've been granted access, you can leave comments to provide feedback or suggest improvements to the idea.
-
Change Idea Status: If the idea passes your assessment, you can change its status to move it forward in the innovation process. This may be limited to specific user roles. Learn more about user roles here.
Anyone with the appropriate permissions can review and assess an idea at any time. Here's how:
-
Receive an invitation to join a judging panel to evaluate an idea.
-
Explore the Ideaboard and finding a specific idea that piques your interest.
-
Search and filter the Ideaboard for ideas tagged against specific goals.
-
Receive notification that an idea’s activity score has reached the threshold for review.
Best Practices:
Approach every idea with an open mind. Even seemingly outlandish ideas could lead to breakthrough innovations.
Always consider the alignment of an idea with organizational goals during assessment.
Provide constructive feedback to help refine and improve the idea.
Notes:
Assessment is an ongoing process. You might need to revisit an idea several times as it develops and evolves based on feedback and additional insights.
The more your community views, follows, and comments on an idea, the more it accumulates the activity score. Once the activity score reaches a certain level, the idea will be automatically flagged for review (via notification and email).
