Changing The Status Of An Idea

 

What:

This guide explains how to change the status of an idea in Acclaim Ideas, marking its progression through the innovation pipeline.

An idea’s status tells you what stage it is in. Updating an idea’s status allows you to track its progress throughout the evaluation process. This provides transparency to you and your team regarding the idea's development, including whether it's under review, being tested, or approved for consideration.

This feature is available to Professional users.

You can always find an idea’s current status by checking the header section, located on the idea’s home page. The current status is highlighted. When you are ready to update the status of your idea, you have two options. You can either select the idea’s new status from a drop-down menu that’s located on the idea’s home page or you can slide the idea via the Workflow Card View. Let’s review each option.

 

Why:

Changing an idea's status is a critical part of the innovation process. It shows the idea's current stage in the innovation pipeline and signals to the team whether it's ready for the next step or needs further refinement.

 

How:

Updating idea status from the idea’s home page:

  1. From the idea board, select the idea that you wish to update.

  2. On the upper right-hand corner of the header, access the Change Status drop-down menu.

  3. Select the appropriate status. The idea’s status is automatically updated in the system.

 

Updating an idea’s status from the Workflow Card View:

  1. Navigate to your Campaigns page on the left-hand menu bar.

  2. Choose the campaign that contains the idea(s) you wish to update.

  3. Select Workflow from the Campaign menu bar.

  4. Drag each idea to the appropriate status column.

 

Best Practices:

Make sure to communicate clearly when changing an idea's status, as it's a crucial step that informs the team of the idea's progress.

Be considerate and objective. Changing the status can significantly affect the idea submitter's motivation.

 

Notes:

Each organization may have its own set of status labels depending on their workflow. Ensure you're familiar with what each status represents in your organization's innovation process.

You can find the Change Status drop-down menu in the top right corner on an idea. If you do not see the Change Status drop-down menu, you may not have the necessary permission to update. Please ask your Platform Owner to upgrade your account.
